SunTrust Banks, Inc., incorporated on July 24, 1984, is a provider of financial services. The Company's principal subsidiary is SunTrust Bank (the Bank). The Company's business segments include Consumer Banking and Private Wealth Management, Wholesale Banking, Mortgage Banking and Corporate Other. The Company offers a line of financial services for consumers, businesses, corporations, institutions and not-for-profit entities, both through its branches (located primarily in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and the District of Columbia), and through other national delivery channels. The Bank provides clients with a selection of full-, self- and assisted-service channels, including branch, call center, Teller Connect machines, automated teller machines (ATMs), Internet, mobile and tablet. The Company\'s other subsidiaries provide capital markets, mortgage banking, securities brokerage, online consumer lending, and asset and wealth management services. As of December 31, 2016, the Company had total deposits of $160 billion. As of December 31, 2016, the Company's total loans held for investment amounted to $143.3 billion.
